A few years ago, I cancelled an EMCORE Conference in Singapore, because I was a little concerned at the number of cases of this new SARS-CoV-2 virus…….. the trajectory had a very scary component to it. I cancelled the conference, some people got upset with me and the hotel refused to refund our venue money, because the WHO had not declared it a Pandemic….. as yet. Yet we stuck to what we believed in and unfortunately a couple of months later, COVID-19 struck.

I then asked the question what’s the next potential pandemic? I asked Dr Davies to have a look at what he thought might be the answer. His well known ‘Going down the rabbit hole approach’ led to some very interesting predictions. The lecture was presented at the  EMCORE Conference in London in 2023.

……… His prediction?

Just out: The WHO has stated that Tuberculosis has replaced COVID-19 to become the top cause for infectious disease-related deaths in 2023. The numbers are definitely different…… but he was right.

The lecture below is well worth watching.
