Dr Peter Kas (Director)

Dr Peter Kas is the Founder and CEO of SOMA Health and of resus.com.au.  He is a senior specialist in Emergency Medicine, a fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and a fellow of the Australian College of Health Service Executives.

 

He holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Sydney and Bachelor and Masters in Architecture from the University of Melbourne.

 

He is a senior Staff Specialist in Emergency Medicine at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, and a Director of Emergency Departments, and past Medical Director of Hospitals. He has a special interest in resuscitation medicine and teaching of advanced airway and resuscitation skills.

 

He is also involved extensively in health care design, consulting on major hospital projects both nationally and internationally; he is a partner in Baldasso Cortese Health Architects.

 

As CEO of Soma Health, Dr Kas has conducted multiple major consultancies on Emergency Department management, including processes and efficiency management, for both the private and government sectors. His interests in Emergency Department consultation include: risk management, flow management, quality assurance and staff education, recruitment and retention.


Penny Kas

Penny has been part of Soma Health since it's creation. In fact the name Soma was coined by her.  She has now moved to  head of 'Soma Retrievals' and manager of Soma's charitable contributions. Penny has a Coronary Care and Emergency nursing background and has worked extensively as a flight nurse at the University of Texas Medical Branch(UTMB), as a Clinical Nurse Specialist at Royal Melbourne Hospital, and as an educator and course instructor for the Red Cross. This teaching experience has seen her move into a pivotal position in resus.com.au

 

This depth of knowledge in administration as well as practical skills and experience in education and teaching, has made her the perfect choice to oversee our medical education planning at resus.com.au.

Dr Sam Bendall

MBChB, Dip Sports Med, FACEM

 

Dr. Sam Bendall is an Emergency Physician at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney. She also works half time for Careflight NSW doing medical retrieval and is heavily involved in education and training there. She has a strong interest in retrieval medicine, trauma and sports medicine.


Dr Phillip Chapman

BSc ( Hons ) Biochem , MBChB , FACEM

 

Dr Phillip Chapman is the Clinical Director of Hobart Private Hospital Emergency Department as part of SOMA Health’s management contract at this hospital.

 

He is also an Emergency Physician with interests in Trauma, Toxicology, Environmental Medicine, including Diving and Hyperbarics and also Acute Care (ICU).

Dr Sanjay Ramrhaka

 

Dr Ramrhaka graduated from UNSW in 1987. Following internship and residency at St Vincent’s Hospital, he began a career in general practice with an interest in rural medicine. This eventually led to anaesthetic and emergency medicine at Liverpool Hospital in 1990. While at Liverpool Hospital he developed an interest in trauma and emergency medicine. Sanjay attained his FRACGP and FACEM in 1998. For the past 10 years he has been practicing emergency medicine at RPA and Liverpool Hospital whilst also delivering sedation at a day endoscopy practice in Sydney.

Dr Clifford Tan

MBBS (USyd).Dip Paed. FRACGP FACEM

Dr Tan is an Emergency Physician and Consultant Clinical Toxicologist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. He also works as a general practitioner and is an examiner for the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He is a clinical lecturer at the University of Sydney and is actively involved in the teaching of the medical students and emergency trainees.


Dr Glen Harrison 

Glen is an Emergency Physician extensively involved in Emergency Medical Education. He is an Emergency Specialist as well as Director of Emergency Medical training at Royal Melbourne Hospital.


Danny O'Neill 

Danny is an emergency nurse with over 10 years emergency experience including emergency military experience with deployments overseas and work in several of the largest trauma centers in the UK and Australia. He has an Honours degree in Biomedical Science, a Post Graduate Diploma in Emergency Nursing, a Diploma in Immediate Medical Care, Certificate IV in Training & Assessment and a Masters degree in Advanced Practice. Danny has published extensively in the UK and Australasian nursing journals including many articles on fluid resuscitation and trauma care. He is currently a member of the Royal Australian Air Force Specialist reserve and a transitional nurse practitioner in a busy rural emergency department and the co–director of a+a training Australia.
